Fable is a game for the Xbox that was happily received by 2.66 million consumers across the world. Its successors quickly dropped to .18 million consumers. It brought a unique gameplay experience to the players by giving them interesting consequences to their actions. The world would react to one’s actions with love and respect, or hate and fear; moreover your characters aura would change as well. These elements slowly disappeared from the franchise sequel after sequel.
Fable: The Journey was the 4th installment of the franchise and with this came a new way to play, with a motion controlled Kinect system, but in order for the developers to bring this aspect into the game they had to get rid of what was once the games main creed. This caused many to not be able to play the game the way that they used to because it required them to purchase more attachments for the console. Consumers recognized this and as the sequels became more and more unfulfilling they stopped supporting this product. When launch dates of the games were announced the message boards were filled with negative comments and reproaches to the game developers. The loss of consumers has been so great that the developers are wondering if they shoud end the franchise where it stands. The company didn't put enough effort into understanding what motivated the consumers to buy the first games, or listen to their complaints as the games continued to decline in the eyes of the consumers
